Day #14 - The Last Exorcism
I have to confess, I loved the Blair Witch Project the first time I saw it. It was new, it wasn’t Scream, it resonated with anyone who had ever been camping and heard some weird-assed shit outside their tent in the middle of the night… On subsequent viewing, I understood why people found it tiresome. Fake documentary… Yep, they’re usually really bad.
So my good friend Courtney came over tonight to watch a scary movie and talk about feelings. Feelings came easy, but I’m always nervous about Netflix movies. I chose one that was new and had 4.5 stars, which usually means some low-budget director got all of his friends to vote for his movie, which will eventually dip down to a healthy 2.5.
But honestly, The Last Exorcism was really well done. The characters are believable, the camera work convincing. The main actress plays an amazing hellion. The details on the alcoholic dad’s face don’t go unappreciated.
So Court and I watched the movie, got creeped out, and are now watching Ghoulies to cleanse our palettes. TGIF, amiright?
